#4Peaks #MollyTuttle

I’ve known about Molly Tuttle for a long time. The Tuttle family is NorCal royalty thanks to Molly’s dad Jack’s reputation as one of the top bluegrass instructors in the area. Molly’s brother Sullivan Tuttle plays in the bluegrass band AJ Lee and Blue Summit, which played 4 Peaks in 2019. And, when they were all younger, they had an acclaimed family band called The Tuttles with AJ Lee. Their videos have hundreds of thousands of views on Youtube.

In 2012, Molly was awarded merit scholarships to the prestigious Berklee College of Music for music and composition. Molly became the first women to ever to win the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Guitar Player of the Year award in 2017. She followed it up the next year by winning the award again, along with being named the Americana Music Association’s Instrumentalist of the Year.

When the 4 Peaks crew began to think about who to book for our 2018 virtuoso slot, Molly’s band was an obvious choice. We were so happy to be able to book her for the Festival and knew she would not disappoint. This performance showcases Molly’s guitar picking—including her own brand of clawhammer guitar style—her singing, and the musicianship of her band.

Highlights: Make sure you check out Molly’s clawhammer guitar style on Save This Heart and her passionate take on Cold Rain and Snow.
