Jackie Greene Band

Tent Stage
Sometimes it rains in the desert. Sometimes it rains in Bend. And, sometimes it rains at 4 Peaks. Though a slight nuisance for festival-goers, short spurts of heavy rain means festival staff going with Plan B for the headliners. In 2016, Plan B was moving Jackie Greene into the tent for a good ol’ fashion rock n’ roll show. I remember people packed in the tent and spilling out into the beer garden.
I remember no one complaining about the gloomy weather that brought everyone together. These were days before social distancing put us six feet apart and a virus shut festivals down altogether.
I had seen Jackie countless times and in countless bands; solo, full band, Phil & Friends, Mother Hips, and Black Crowes. I’ve been amazed at his talent on just about any instrument, from guitar to keys. He burst onto the scene as a teenager with a bag of well-crafted songs and troubadour’s sense for touring. But this show, combined with the behind-the-scenes craziness, showed he could roll with the punches and come out the other side ready to whip a crowd into a frenzy.
Highlights: Jackie and Nathan trading solos on New Speedway Boogie. Crowd singing Another Brick in the Wall, placed in the middle of Shakedown Street.
